Researchers from Budapest University of Technology and Economics are eligible to publish their papers open access with several publishers without paying APCs through the read and publish agreements of the Hungarian Electronic Information Service National Programme (EISZ).

Details on the agreements as well as instructions for authors on OA publishing according to Hungarian consortium agreements are available on the website of EISZ.

The opportunity of APC-free open access publishing is available for corresponding authors from BUTE after their articles are accepted. When you submit an article, you must name the corresponding author eligible for OA and his/her BUTE affiliation. You are recommended to use an email address ending in bme.hu. The eligibility of authors is automatically identified by the following indicators:

  • institutional email (.bme.hu)
  • affiliation with BUTE
  • submission from institutional IP range
  • ORCID

By publishing open access, authors can retain their copyrights. Accordingly, they should choose from the following Creative Commons licenses: CC-BY, CC-BY-NC and CC-BY-NC-ND.

American Chemical Society

The agreement with the American Chemical Society (ACS) covers 100% of the open access publishing fee (APC) for BUTE researchers, according to the eligibility criteria below.

  • Affiliation of the corresponding author is from BUTE
  • The date of acceptance of the article is between 1st January 2021 and 31st December 2021
  • Both hybrid and gold open access journals are covered
  • Research papers are eligible
  • Eligible authors are identified by their email domain (.bme.hu)
  • After the article is accepted, the author receives a confirmation by e-mail, which contains a link to the Copyright Clearance Center website. Here you can apply for open access publishing by choosing the “Seek funding from Hungarian Electronic Information Service National Programme” option. Guide

Elsevier

The agreement with Elsevier covers 100% of the open access publishing fee (APC) for BUTE researchers, according to the eligibility criteria below.

  • Affiliation of the corresponding author is from BUTE
  • The date of submission of the article is between 1st July 2019 and 31st December 2021
  • A selection of hybrid and gold open access journals are covered: eligible journals
  • Research papers are eligible
  • Eligible authors are identified by the name of the institute, which can be chosen after the article has been accepted. Guide

Royal Society of Chemistry

The agreement with the Royal Society of Chemistry covers 100% of the open access publishing fee (APC) for BUTE researchers, according to the eligibility criteria below.

  • Affiliation of the corresponding authoris from BUTE
  • The date of acceptance of the article is between 1st January 2021 and 31st December 2021
  • Only hybrid journals are covered
  • Research papers are eligible
  • Eligible authors are identified by their email domain (.bme.hu). Guide

Springer Nature

The agreement with Springer Nature covers 100% of the open access publishing fee (APC) for BUTE researchers, according to the eligibility criteria below.

Wiley publisher

The agreement with Wiley covers 100% of the open access publishing fee (APC) for BUTE researchers, according to the eligibility criteria below.

MDPI open access publisher

BUTE joined to MDPI’s Institutional Open Access Program in 2020. This agreement offer 10% discount on the APC according to the eligibility criteria below.

  • Affiliation of any author is from BUTE
  • The date of submission of the article is between 1st January 2020 and 31st December 2021
  • Gold open access journals are covered
  • Eligible authors are identified by their affiliation and their email domain (.bme.hu)

Articles from MDPI’s scientific open access journals can be searched with the help of Scilit, a comprehensive, open-access scholarly database. This database provides rankings of and reports on publishers as well.

Discontinued agreements

BUTE did not renew the open access agreement with the publishers below for 2021. Accordingly, researchers from BUTE are not eligible for APC-free open access publishing in the publisher’s journals.
