To help research and data retrieval, the Archives also operates a Reference Library available in its office and Research Room. The bibliographic records of nearly 500 volumes of the Reference Library are accessible through the electronic catalogue of the Central Library.

Designed to hold the most frequented and useful sources of information for researchers, teachers and students from our University, the collection of the Reference Library consists of publications on the University's history, books on archival science, aids to other archives' materials and books on the history of science. A significant part of the collection is made up of a subcollection consisting of books on the Hungarian Revolution in 1956 and belonging to the University's 1956 Foundation. The subcollection is built with the purpose of producing the deepest and most complete possible source of information on the Hungarian Revolution in 1956.
